NZ-Fatherless Kids

Fatherless Kids
Yes - New Zealand now has upwards of 300,000 Fatherless Kids
according to WINZ (NZ Social Welfare ) and so called Child Support, caused by;
Family destructive NZLaw and NZSocial Policy

A study done in Massey University in 1996
http://www.massey.ac.nz/~kbirks/gender/econ/nodad.htm

found the following horrific facts;

Has LABOUR made these stats WORSE?

Will NATIONAL reverse the trend?

Fatherless Children are;

5 times more likely to commit suicide

32 times more likely to runaway

20 times more likely to have behavioural disorders

14 times more likely to commit rape

9 times more likely to drop out of high school

10 times more likely to abuse chemical substances

9 times more likely to end up in a state-operated institution

20 times more likely to end up in prison

Additions from our observations

Far more likely to Father/Bear a Child as a young teenager

Far more likely to be party to an abortion

There is much more data out there to support this conclusion which is now more than just a theory. These are just the main bullet points. Not only do we suffer as Fathers with little to no access to our Sons and Daughters, which in itself is a heart breaker but the Kids face even greater difficulties.

Legislation and Social Policy encourages Mothers to do it alone...

but look what happens when they do.

This does not mean Men are better than Women or Fathers are better than Mothers, it means they are more powerful and effective when working together as EQUAL Parents residing together or not, even better HandsOnEqualParents from conception.

The above seems to be overlooked when the;
so called Family Court - so called Child Support - so called Child Youth and Family Services - so called Work and Income NZ - so called Ministry of Women's Affairs - so called Ministry of Social Development - so called Human Rights Commission - so called Housing NZ and so called Members of Parliament work;
"
in the best interest of the Children"

I don't think so??

What do you think?

For me it is a no brainer that kids need fathers. It seems that the only people who dont know this are the politicians and the lawyers. "no brain" is probably a good description for them. So far families have not even got on the political agenda for the election and the only person who ever did talk about this stuff was Peter Dunne who has shown himself to completely misunderstand the process by his actions.

Right on, Jim!

Another issue which helps cause the fatherlessness is that, somehow, the stigma has been removed from adultery. I don't know anything in the governing Feminist religion which says that adultery is OK, but now even the city of Wellington advertises itself on TV as a place to come and have an adulterous affair at! Of course, adultery leads to marriage and partnership breakdown, and then, often, to fatherlessness!

Another thing that fosters marriage and partnership break-up is women in the workforce. Office romances can only happen if the people are together in the office, of course. Feminists have promoted women working as a good thing in its own right, whereas it has both good and bad aspects, depending on circumstances.

This Feminist drive to get women into work also creates abortion, because children are just viewed as nuisances that get in the way of a woman working.

If one-income families were the norm, house-prices would come down and wages would go up, because there would be more employers chasing fewer workers, and fewer two-income families willing to throw money at houses. There would also be less stress.

I fully support the efforts to gain equal parenting and right the wrongs that have been changing the face of maledom for the last 3 decades. Men need their voices heard so our children can grow up in a well-balanced, moral society without the non-Christian, politically-correct mentality beating them into a downtrodden mental pulp.
Children have the right to see their paternal fathers and the law makers need to take note of situations where the inequalities of WINZ and Family Court laws have made this impossible.
Be strong Jim and Co.

Great stuff Jim and don't forget the shameful unlawful gender discrimination by government social agencies. The Family Court, Housing NZ , CYFS , police, WINZ and the Human Rights Commission have all breached my basic human rights as a falsely accused father victimized by a vindictive and vengeful gender bias system.

These sexist agencies are trained to hate fathers and destroy families because the fractured family business is big bucks for all the disgraceful professional leeches that suck from the De Family Court gravy train !!

Hood stuff Jim!

A couple of notes:

These statistics as such have nothing to do with any political party. Only the fact that 300,000 kids live without dad does. So I would want to know:

1. How many kids where fatherless in 1996?
2. What does Labour do to reverse the trend of ever more children growing up without dad?
3. What policy has National got?

Also, you will find more stats at the Center for Children's Justice (look for "Fatherlessness").

The comment left by petehug...

1) If there were a million fatherless kids or 300,000 fatherless kids out there what is the difference? You have about 4,000,000 people in NZ and 300,000 of those are fatherless. In 1996 the number would obviously be less but as the country becomes more accepting of a fatherless family wouldn't you say the % and therefore the number is getting exponentially worse?
2) The parties - left and right - seem only to be interested in revenue and therefore support the fatherless family. The parties that could make a difference will be considered a wasted vote because of MMP
3) See above.

The Fix

PROTECTING CHILDREN WITH RECOVERY OF CONTACT ORDERS

Protecting children from the harm caused by Family Court litigation by protecting them from having one of their parents excluded by the other without first obtaining Family Court approval.

The proposal is based on the use of Restoration of Contact Orders (RCOs) that would be obtained from a Magistrates or District court in the same way as an AVO (Apprehended Violence Order or Intervention Order) – so that the child's relationship with both its parents is not compromised until a Judge has the opportunity to assess the application of the parent that wants to deny the other parent from a natural parental relationship with their child.

Like AVOs, RCOs would be enforceable immediately so that the child is protected from harm form the initial instant.

RCOs would provide each parent with 50% custody of their children (or less by agreement) on a week about basis (or otherwise by agreement). .
Like AVOs, RCOs would be subject to prompt adjudication in Court – normally in a matter of days if opposed by the other parent. They would be enforceable by the Police.

SAFE GUARDS
If the mother, for example, wanted to resist an RCO on the grounds of genuine concerns for the child's safety with the other parent, two options are available to her;

1. She lays charges of child abuse (including serious neglect) with the Police, which would prevent the automatic enforcement of the RCO, until it can be adjudicated in court.

2. She breaches the order by evading enforcement by the Police, in which case she's got some explaining to do when it comes to court.

Likewise this applies for fathers too.

'FAMILY VIOLENCE'
Be they genuine or contrived, Family Violence allegations and AVOs must not be allowed to compromise a child's relationship with either parent when change over
arrangements can be made at school or through third parties (ie: thereby avoiding direct contact between the parents). In the unlikely when the violence is directed towards the child by one of its parents, the other parent can prevent unsupervised contact between the offending parent and their child by laying charges with the Police and applying to the Family Court for approval of the arrangement in response to any RCO application.

We need to rectify this problem for children who currently stand to loose one parent on the say so of the other. These children are
* 5 times more likely to commit suicide.
* 32 times more likely to run away.
* 20 times more likely to have behavioural disorders.
* 14 times more likely to commit rape
* 9 times more likely to drop out of high school.
* 10 times more likely to abuse chemical substances.
* 9 times more likely to end up in a state-operated institution.
* 20 times more likely to end up in prison.
* 85% of child abuse victims are from single parents homes.

Hi Jim,

A sad and sorry tale of misdirected and misinformed tyranny.

Just as it takes a Man AND a Woman to make a Baby, so it takes a Mother AND a Father to raise productive adults.

And, a vote for Nabour or a vote for Lational will still result in the same imbecile social policy being wrought on New Zealand society.

Our best wishes to yourself, Javan and his Mum.

Jim,

I commend your efforts on behalf of fathers and children in New Zealand.

As you are well aware, the lack of father’s rights is an international problem.

That said, we fathers must unite globally, stand together and speak as one to defeat this insanity.

Politicians, judges, lawyers, the media, and others abuse the phrase “the best interest of the children”.

Generally, what's commonly referred to as a child's "best interest" translates into an horrific and unwarranted attack against loving fathers.

An attack that by design, is commonly used to hatefully force the father out of his children's lives.

How is it in a child's "best interest" to be forcefully separated from a loving father?

How is it in a child's "best interest" when his/her father is bankrupted, forced to live in poverty under horrific conditions, forced into homelessness, and sadly for some, driven to suicide due to an unreasonably and astronomically high child support order?

In the United States, child support has nothing to do with a child's best interest, and everything to do with the 50 states of the union's best financial interests.

In the USA, the states are making BILLIONS of dollars in profits off of child support payments, and while destroying the lives of countless wonderful and loving fathers in the process. Why? It’s for a sum of money known as a "profit."

I am not against paying reasonable amounts of child support in situations where it’s truly warranted. One can hardly argue that a father who pays $1000 US dollars per month in child support to the “custodial parent” (CP) (when he too has the child exactly 50% of the time) is paying a reasonable amount of child support. One can hardly argue that a father who went bankrupt due to his child support order, lost his home and most everything else, and is forced to live in a homeless camp next to a river; was paying a reasonable amount of child support.

What I am against is the "profiteering" by the states and others off of child support payments, and at the emotional expense and to the detriment of our innocent children. I am against fathers being forced to pay so much in child support, that they cannot afford to support themselves. This is because the states are forcefully taking up to 65% of his monthly income, calling it "child support", giving it to the mother of his children, and leaving him nothing to support himself.

In the USA, the courts are designed to force the fathers out of his children’s lives. They must do this so as to declare him “absent” and therefore order him to pay huge sums of money in “support.” They must do this to “justify” his being forced to relinquish up to 65% of his income, so the states can make their profit off of each and every one of his child support payments.

In America, the number one incarcerator of prisons in the world, our nation’s jails are filled with countless fathers who are incarcerated (some for years) because the fell behind in their child support payments. They didn’t refuse to pay, they simply didn’t have the means to pay. Why not? Some lost their jobs through no fault of their own because they were “laid off” by their employers. Some became unemployed after their factories closed it’s doors in the US and moved their operations overseas.

Some were unable to pay because they were hospitalized because of heart attacks, strokes, cancer, and other medical misfortune. Some couldn’t pay because they were in prison for not paying for the reasons just described. Where I live in Cincinnati Ohio, USA, if a father is incarcerated for not paying child support. He is said to be “voluntarily-underemployed” during his incarceration. Therefore, since he is “voluntarily underemployed” Ohio courts will NOT lower the amount of his monthly child support obligation.

That presents a problem for fathers earning prison wages of less than $20 USD per month, especially when the must continue paying their $2000 USD per month (or higher) child support obligation. What happens to these fathers? Ohio, “re-indicts” many of them. That means that while they are incarcerated for not paying child support, Ohio files more criminal charges against them while they are in jail cells. Only now, they are facing even longer jail sentences for being a “repeat offender.”

Sadly, many fathers are “stuck” in a perpetual state of incarceration because of this. They are repeatedly criminally charged, indicted, tried, and sentence to more jail time, while they are in jail for not being able to pay their support to begin with! In Ohio, there is absolutely no legally accepted reason for missing a child support payment.

Fathers in Ohio who lost their jobs or are on disability because of heart attack, stroke cancer, broken necks, etc are treated the same by the legal system as those true “deadbeats” who willfully refuse to pay their support, and do everything they can to circumvent the system.

Until the “profiteering” off of child support payments by Ohio and America’s other 49 states is stopped, wonderful, caring and loving fathers will continue to have their lives devastated by the legal system. What was their crime? They dared to decide to become fathers.

“For the “love” of money, is the root of all evil…”

Excellent post Jim.
I agree whole heartedly with Dr R.

If only we could get a mailing list of all the parents who pay child tax. We would then have access to a massive support base to make meaningful changes.
